As the estimable Kermit the Frog once said, “it ain’t easy being green”.
Our napkin manufacture are from Germany. The US has lagged behind Europe.Germany has some of the strictest laws in the world when it comes to the environment. No ride on the autobahn would be complete without seeing hundreds of wind turbines producing clean energy..
Our companies tissue is 100% cellulose from crack wood (fallen trees) or from plantation wood (managed forests where trees planted specifically for the production of paper materials). All of the forests are sustainable, and our manufactures have earned a certificate of approval from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) by meeting all of the FSC’s standards for sustainability, forest management, well being of the forest workers, and effect in any indigenous people.
The tissue is 100% biodegradable. One could actually eat a napkin with no ill effects from the tissue or the ink!
They use oxygen bleached tissue material for napkin production. In addition to using the environmentally safest process for whitening the basic napkin tissue, they required the paper mills they bought supplies from to stop using optical brightening chemicals for the raw materials from which the napkins are produced.
